Did not expect to find a Buddhist temple in downtown Lahaina. Be sure and check out the "ringing" of the ceremonial bell at 8PM.

Created to mark the Japanese migration to the Islands, this is a lovely Garden with a Giant Buddha, Pagoda and Temple. It is a gentle break from the otherwise tourist distractions of Lahaina and is with a short visit.

A little Buddhist mission down by the sea, away from the Lahaina tourist hustle. Nobody minds if you ring the big bell, which children love to do. The main temple usually has the front door open, and is well worth contemplating. The giant Buddha, and...More

The Jodo Mission features the largest statues of Buddha outside of Asia with a replica of an authentic Japanese Buddhist Temple. The bronze Buddha statue is 12 feet high and roughly three and a half tons and was installed in 1968.

History place of Lahaina, next to a pretty beach. Several buildings, including main shrine, Buddha stature, 3 tiers tower. It was not maintained, trashes on the ground in the early morning.

We visited the big Buddha and the buildings surrounding it. It was the exact replica of the Buddha that we visited in Japan. The setting is tranquil and offers a place for people to pray.

We came to the Jodo Mission because of geocaching, but have returned on more recent trips because of the calming nature of this venue. A really neat place to visit and learn a little bit more about this culture.

Although this site does not take very long to visit it is just off the highway and worth seeing the big Buddha, There is also a giant temple bell.
