Used to love coming here for the kids to enjoy the amazing tree. Last visit was overwhelmed by homeless, incapacitated, and aggressive people approaching my family. Scared my child enough that we had to leave. Open and obvious drug use was uncomfortable. Too bad for...More

The huge banyan tree provides tons of shade right in the middle of town. There was a farmer's market/artist's show one day while we were there, and the park just had a cool vibe to it.

This is a very nice place to have lunch. Bring your own or buy something at a nearby store or restaurant. Just a great place to watch people or look at the beautiful trees

You walk in the park and look at the tree and leave. The tree itself is amazing. It’s so old and so huge, but when we went, the park was filled with homeless people and smelled like body odor.

We spent some time this afternoon sitting in this amazing park! It’s a must see in Lahaina. Visit the museum when you are there also.

Nice park with benches to rest a while after shopping. The tree is really huge. Public bathrooms are close by.

Great place to drink your morning coffee and be surrounded by Hawaiian history -and stay cool in the heat Inside the old court house you will see photos of the banyan tree from 1900 This is one inspiring tree

The banyan tree is amazing. The park around it, eh. It seems like a hang out and not so much a sight. But to see what can be created from a single tree is a can’t miss.

This is a nice pace to eat your ice cream and relax. The tree is humongous and beautiful. A nice place to sit and enjoy life or ice cream

If you’re staying in Lahaina, I definitely recommend that you take a moment to check out this 100+ year old tree. It’s so hard to believe it’s so old and takes up one entire block.

I don't know the answer to your question but if you can remember any store or restaurant names where he was around, I would call them and ask for help. If it was in the park, try calling the old courthouse.

I am going in October. I will look for him when I visit the park. If I get his contact info, I will forward it to you.
