Overall the park is really well organized. You have to make sure to make a reservation to see the sunrise or you will get turned away at the park gates! The top summit parking lot is small, and fills up quickly. If you don't want to get stuck walking up from the visitor centre, leave a half hour earlier than... More

This is a must do on Maui. Beautiful sunrise above the clouds. Make a reservation several months in advance.... or you can try to secure one 48 hrs in advance which will be harder. We drove up ourselves to control timing. Was a very winding drive but was beautiful driving down. Would not miss. Tours are available and you can... More

This was absolutely stunning. Do not miss this at sunrise. We did it as part of a bike tour. I knew it was going to be cold and wore layers (t-shirt, sweatshirt, packable puffer, and the rain coat included with my bike rental, shorts, long pants, and rain pants). I even remembered to pack a beanie/skully winter hat, but I... More

My husband and I visited Haleakala for the sunrise and it was quite a sight to see. We ventured to the top with a bike rental company and took a tour of Haleakala and Paia afterward by bike which was great! Beware if you are prone to motion sickness: I was in the middle of the van all the way... More

This breathtaking adventure was awesome and so worth the trip. Some 30 thousand feet above sea level .....The awe inspiring sun arises above the clouds while you stand on sacred grounds and they sing a Hawaiian song...Goosebumps

Whether you are going for the sunrise or sunset the long drive up the volcano is worth it! We saw the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen. Just be aware it is freezing at the top no matter what time of year. Bring a jacket.

Winding roads all the way up and down. But when you get to the top it's worth it. The weather is a bit crazy it was cold 57 degrees and sprinkled around the curved roads. I would recommend this it costs $20 a car load.

This was great. You want to go to the sunrise, but don't miss out on the hiking. We hiked 2 different trails. The park office gives great advice. We didn't bring nearly enough water though. It wasn't hot, but actually comfortable. We are from low elevation and had some breathing problems. Almost all the hikes are challenging to a degree... More

you have to be prepare and know that the wether will change 1000 times in the same day. it is pretty cold at the summit also. We did a 23km hike, and really enjoy this adventure.

This if for the part of the park that you go through on the road to Hana. They have a visitor center, picnic area, stairs down to the black sand beach. Nice stop for the bus passengers that need a break. Hiking trails to the upper and lower pools.
