Ulupalakua is home to MauiWine which offers one of the Islands' most enticing products - wines that carry the essence of Hawai'i, the spirit of Maui. MauiWine welcomes you to taste the fruit of the island in wines made from their 23 acre vineyard on the slopes of Haleakala, as well as the tropical wines made from the famed Maui Gold pineapples - all grown right here in Upcountry Maui. Visitors to MauiWine gather in the tasting room located in the King's Cottage, built in 1874 specifically for the celebrated visits of King Kalakaua, last reigning King of Hawai'i. Guests are invited to follow in the footsteps of Ali'i (royalty) and Paniolo (cowboys) on a guided tour of the historical grounds. A journey into Ulupalakua's illustrious past, a tour of the Makee estate, and a glimpse at the creation of Maui wines are all a part of the experience. Welcome to Ulupalakua... where the storied history blends with modern day agriculture, creating the perfect setting for the islands only winery and vineyard. Time Well Spent

For starters, the property is absolutely gorgeous. The gardens and grounds are immaculate with stunning mass plantings and pathways. The tasting room is very small and was quite chaotic when we were there, at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon. Attendants didn't seem to have a rhyme or reason for whom they served or in what order, and their descriptions of... More

This is a beautiful spot that is a long way from anything, but worth visiting. They have a nice tasting room and will provide three tastes per person. We shared so we got to taste 6 wines. we really liked the rose and the sparkling rose. The reds (Syrah and Mele Red Blend) were very nice as well, much better... More

We stopped here on our way to visit Ha na travelling the back way around Maui. The grounds are beautiful and the atmosphere is refreshing. Such a difference from the lower elevations of the island. Take a taste of Maui's own and enjoy.

My wife and I took a road trip to see this winery since we had been told by some locals that it was "must see" attraction. We were staying just north of Lahaina and the trip was about 2 hours. The wine tasting room is a converted house that used to be used by King Kalakaua when he came to... More

I scheduled a Private Wine Tasting Tour for my husband's 40th Birthday. Let me just say it did not disappoint. There were 4 of us and the had a beautiful spread of cheeses, meats, breads and crackers to be paired with our wine tasting. We received a private tour of the winery. We were able to see where they crushed... More

When in Hawaii it seems wrong not to try pineapple wine. This winery is in a beautiful location upcountry, right across from the Ulupalakua Ranch Store and Grill. It has beautiful grounds. If you are a wine expert, you will likely be under-impressed with the wine. There's a reason wine has traditionally been made with grapes rather than pineapple. However,... More

This was a perfect stop on our way back from the Hana trip. The area is beautiful! What a nice surprise to discover that the wine tastings were free! You get 3 free wine tastings! I found that the pineapple wines were a little too sweet for me but still quite tasty and we still bought a couple bottles for... More

It has been a while since my husband and I have been to a FREE wine tasting...and three generous tastes at that. What a delight! We recommend that you include Maui Wine on your Upcountry tour. Maui Wine must have what it takes; we bought two delicious bottles as a result of our tastings. My favorite was the Pineapple Splash.... More
