A little cold, but worth it.

Alvin and Kealoha were great tour guides. They took really good care of us all the way down the mountain. We had a young woman who was really struggling, (she was gravity... read more

Just finished the sunrise tour. While there were 45 mph winds at the crater, the sunrise was awesome, first time i've seen a sunrise like that. The ride down was a lot of fun, we got lucky with a group of people that knew how to ride bikes so we went at a good pace. Jo (sp?) and Marlin (sp?)... More

My family of 6 used Mountain Riders because they go all the way to the summit and escort all the way down. Most of us did this bike ride before, but we felt that it would be safer for the newbies. With Dante in the chase van and Elvin leading the way, we felt totally safe and in good hands.... More

We did the sunrise tour. Absolutely worth getting up at 2:00am. Dress in layers, be sure to have short/sleeveless shirt at the base. The jacket they give you is pretty warm but hoodie sweatshirt & hat are advised. The pants are wind pants but you'll appreciate having shorts under neigh for latter part of the ride. They also provide gloves.... More

If you're looking for some family fun while in Maui look no further than Mountain Riders ride down the volcano. Don't let the 26 mile ride down scare you away. Virtually no pedaling involved and fast and fun, but not scary. Driving down from the brisk chilly temperatures to ending at the beach for a delicious bite in the local... More

Today I went on the sunrise tour with my 18 year old daughter. The trip started out great we were picked up right on time, brought to the mountain riders headquarters and shown a safety video and then brought to the top two hours before sunrise. Our tour guide was Roger. Now I did this ride 24 years ago on... More

Alvin and Kealoha were great tour guides. They took really good care of us all the way down the mountain. We had a young woman who was really struggling, (she was gravity impaired) and Alvin kept us all together as we had a great time. Dress in layers. The top of the mountain is in the 30's and the bottom... More

We were lucky enough to have amazing views of the colours leading up to sunrise as well as a beautiful sunrise to watch. Luckily there was a guide near us from another company who was providing us with lots of information about the mountains and what we could see, including the observatory on Big Island. Would recommend packing lots and... More

My wife and I did the sunrise tour on the last day of our honeymoon. The sunrise itself at the top of Haleakala is one of the most beautiful things I've ever experienced. The weather was perfect and the overall surroundings were stunning. The bike down the volcano was one of the coolest things we have ever done. We stopped... More

First off, thank you to our leaders: Bobby, Kaualana (forgive the misspelling), & drivers Marlin and Jo-gene (sp?). My husband and I, both in our 50's, and our 3 teenage children had come prepared for the cold on top of the mountain and brought gloves, hats and jackets from Philly. Tip: If you are coming from the mainland, book this... More

A long list of complaints. Company bathroom was unsanitary. Helmets were disgusting...reeked of sweat. The staff exchanged mine for a slightly less smelly one. Back brakes on bike were completely out. Weather was terrible at the summit (no fault of the company of course), however, we were told to get out of the bus and head to the bathrooms or... More
