Spectacular views as you climb from the tropical Coastal Plain to the arid Alpine crest of this Volcano. Stunning views over Maui and as far as Mona Kea on the big Island (on a clear day). Just bear in mind that it is going to be a lot colder up there than it was when you left the beach!

Want to climb 10,023 feet? Take the Crater Road up to the top. It's an exciting switchback road with jaw-dropping views. Driver, keep your eyes on the road. And don't disturb the Nēnē.

Make sure the weather is good before deciding making the long trip up by car to the very top of the Haleakala volcanic crater rim. Once up there one has a spectacular view in all direction and can even see the two extinct volcanous on the Big Island to the south. The various hikes along the crater rim as well... More

It is amazing, best view ever, have to visit this place, easy to get to, make sure you bring your walking shoes and don't leave them at the hotel like I did.

So much variety on this trail. We went early and had it to ourselves. The rocky volcanic upper blends into beautiful, technical single-track at the Mamane trail, then peaceful dirt road and flowy, small paved switchbacks down Waiopoli road. Make sure to have 2 cars for this ride (rent a second for 1 day at $30), park at Rice Park... More

This is a great Maui Hike. I just did it last weekend on a Sunday. The trail starts just below the crater rim and visitor's center. The Haleakala Park costs $15 per person but I heard that they may not charge if you are hiking. You have to leave one car at the end of the trail just above PoliPoli... More

Get away from the crowds and ride this awesome trail that has a little bit of everything -- lava-strewn double track; rolling, twisting singletrack, smooth dirt, beautiful paved road. From high in the clouds to the lush valley below -- and all downhill! Awesome! Get your bike from the knowledgeable guys at Krank Cycles in Makawao. They'll get you set... More

I couldn't recommend this trail enough to anyone who loves to Mountain Bike ride. The trail has five distinct sections that were all the perfect length. It starts out a little loose with sandy gravel so out of the pedals and standing back is definitely recommended, if you're not an experienced rider I could see this section being a bit... More

Awesome views and a great trail. Visit a local bike store for trail map as there are some intersecting trails/roads you will ned to identify. I would recommend for intermediate mountain bike riding ability and up. You should have a quality mountain bike with good brakes and tires. First part is sketchy with loose lava rock. Just take it at... More

The views on the way up (and down) and once you get to the top are tremendous, but you have to be lucky with the weather. You'll be able to see several other islands. Fortunately, we did.
