Poipu Beach is a great spot for families to spend the day. Lots of sand where you can plop your chair down, relax, listen to the waves, and soak up the sun. It's probably a good idea to put on a pair of water shoes...More

We spent an afternoon at this gorgeous, swimming and snorkeling friendly beach. The water is crystal clear. In knee deep water you can clearly see the bottom and a variety of fish swimming around. This is a nice sandy beach with sand and lava rocks...More

Everyone who goes to Kauaii should hit up this beach. It's got alot of options and is good for little kids too! The last time were here there was a beached like sea lion type creature that was protected!

The beach is beautiful and great for snorkeling, surfing or just walking the beach. Sunsets are great and the seals were cute.

Poipu beach is gorgeous. Turquoise water, palm rimmed beach, beautiful sunsets. It was crowded, but there was still enough room to maneuver around and not bump into people in the water

Snorking was excellent with many tropical fish. Also had three sea turtles on shore and two monk seals. Care should be made as the current is very strong.

It would be good for beginner snorkeling! It is protected by a reef so water is not rough. You need to be aware that in some spots the distance between rock and water surface is very very shallow and you need to be careful... More

I would personally take my mask and rent fins.
