The Grove Farm Museum flies under the radar. It is tremendously interesting. The Plantation House is incredible with unbelievable artifacts. The Plantation was inhabited by the Wilcox family since the mid-1850's before being turned into a museum. Its a time capsule of sugar plantation life. The story of Mable Wilcox and what she did to contribute to the health and... More

Turn down the little dirt driveway, marked "Grove Farm", off Nawiliwili Ave. in Lihue and find yourself instantly transported back to the days of large scale Kauai sugar cane growing, milling and sailing ships. Your knowledgeable volunteer guide will take you on a roughly one hour tour of George Wilcox's home and what remains of the surrounding lands of his... More

This is a delightful view of a farm from the time of sugar plantations. A volunteer guide escorts you through the farm from another time. Reservations are required.

We have enjoyed their Sunday brunch on several visits to Kauai. It is best to get reservations earlier during the time the breakfast buffet is available. Towards the end of the available time, several items are used up and not readily replaced. The food is very good

We were lucky to have a small group tour (5) of this very interesting and historical site in Kauai. Our docent or guide, who was originally from the mainland, had lived on the island 40+ years and was married into one of the local families. The telling of the history of the estate went into only the positive aspects of... More

On the second Thursday of every month Grove Farm starts up its beautifully restored 1887 vintage cane hauling steam locomotive "Paulo" and offers free rides. The volunteer engineer and other people there are passionate about the history of Paulo and very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the Grove Farm and it's steam locomotives. They are in the process... More

We feel very fortunate to have discovered this attraction and booked a tour in advance. Well worth the time and donation. Exceptionally well preserved and visitor friendly. Historical significance which was easy to grasp and remember as a reference for the remainder of our 9 day stay in Kauai. Special Place Not to be missed.

Was driving by and saw the sign advertising free entry and decided to take a look. If you want to see a glimpse of Kauai's past then this is the place to visit! I walked around by myself for a little while looking into all the buildings around the property. When I got to the main house I was greeted... More

After several years of talking about it, we finally got to see Grove Plantation Farm in Lihue. It consists of a cluster of buildings that made up the estate. From the excellent guides you learn about Kauai in the early contact years -- its early life as a sugar cane plantation, its evolution over time, and the family that owned... More
