Saw whales breaching and lots of birds nesting. The lighthouse was closed for repairs, but there are binoculars to use and lots of good information to be had in the visitor center and gift shop.

Fascinating place to visit for an hour or more. The Light House and Wildlife Refuge are both on the same property. Marine life sightings frequently include whales in winter months; seals and dolphins all year. The refuge is up on a cliff so you are...More

An elevated piece of land juts out into the Pacific Ocean allowing for some great views. The highlights are the shore birds flying closely overhead and dotting the whole landscape on the opposite hill.

Not spectacular, but there are a few lookouts along the way of the sea and cliffs, and you'll get to spot some birdlife here. Walk to the lighthouse was a short one from the parking lot. You'll need an hour or less here.

We didn't get to the Lighthouse in time to tour it, but we watched the wildlife. So many varieties of birds.

Bring your binoculars to see the birds up close and whales frolicking in the autumn mist. Small parking lot $5 fee and closed Sunday and Monday

Pay $5 and stay as long as you want! Take a tour of the lighthouse or wander around watching birds and looking for whales. Sadly, it's only open Tues to Sat until 4:00...before the whales get active and the sun sets. Great site though! Worth...More

Stopped here on our way back to Lihue from Princeville. It’s a beautiful spot to view the lighthouse and the wildlife all around. Only downside is it’s being closed on Mondays.

On my first few visits to Kaua'i, I would usually drive to the end of the road, park the car in the small car park and take a few photos. A few years ago, I took the drastic step of driving into the lighthouse grounds...More

Let me change that answer. That is for the Kilauea Lighthouse. The wildlife refuge isn't really a place you go into. It defines an area around the lighthouse. So it is always open to the birds, and you can come anytime... More
