Birdwatchers delight!

A must stop for birdwatchers! If you go in the spring, a variety of seabirds are nesting. Beautiful location with historic lighthouse and views to the north coast of Kauai.

This Refuge provides a beautiful view of some rugged shoreline. The lighthouse has been very well maintained. There is a tour available, however, we did not partake.

Beautiful views and lots of marine life can be spotted from the lighthouse area. We really appreciated the wonderful docents who took time to explain what we were seeing, and had the patience to help me learn how to spot sea turtles!!!

This is a place everyone should visit on every trip to Kauai. The view can be spectacular and the many bird are very interesting. Yesterday the surf was very high and quite a wind. But this made for some great photos of the waves crashing on the rocks. The staff & volunteers are all very pleasant and happy to tell... More

This was my second visit. This area is simply beautiful and perfect for a family activity without any difficulty of any kind. The lookout before arriving has a fantastic view so you must stop. The lighthouse itself is not much but you have to walk around the area, read the various signs and explanations about the wildlife and admire the... More

This wildlife refuge and lighthouse is absolutely worth a stop. On a sunny day you will take some spectacular pictures. But it is also worth stopping on an overcast day. There is a small $5.00/person fee. Kids 15 and under are free. There are placards that will tell you about the birds that nest in the area. There is a... More

Although we could smell the bird guano, the views were spectacular. Brief placards telling about the different birds were helpful - wouldn't have minded a few more details. We had arrived after 4 one day, so could only see from the lookout. SO glad we came back another day, as you can see WAY more birds and the view is... More

This Refuge is home to many species of seabirds along with nave coastal plants. It is also a great place to view dolphins, seals and whales. Home also, to the Kilauea Point Lighthouse. There is an entrance fee and parking is limited and can be problematic. There are restrooms, fountains and a gift shop on site.

It's just a short hike up to the Lighthouse area. The are telescopes that you can look through at different locations or you can sign out a pair of binoculars. There is a $5 charge per adult.

So much to see, whales, turtles, sea birds and waves crashing onto shore. The view is one of a kind. Spectacular!
