We decided to take the Fern Grotto tour up the Wailua River. We had previously kayaked up the river on another trip but wanted a different view. The guide was very informative on history of the river in the area, and the guide did a great job of explaining the Fern Grotto area. The hula dancing was nice, the singing... More

This was a great/cheap way to see the river that was very entertaining and easy to maneuver and didn't take very much of our time. Definitely worth the price for the 1 1/2 hour experience.

This was my 3rd visit to the fern grotto in the past 25 years, and I enjoyed it the most today! Though the ferns were somewhat diminished as a result of hurricane Iniki, the grotto is still enchanting. The boat you take to get to the grotto has narration about what you are seeing along the banks of the Wailua... More

On our last day before an evening flight this was a perfect send off after two great weeks on this beautiful island. The folks on the boat performed dance and music and the stop at the Fern Grotto was nice. A beautiful spot to just walk around and decent bathroom facilities. Just a nice relaxing boat ride and sites to... More

Fun for couples or families. Musical entertainment on the way back was fun. Path up to the Fern Grotto was a beautiful short walk .

We had amazing weather for this beautiful trip on the river to the Fern Grotto which is quite something to see, we were on our second honeymoon so we enjoyed the live band playing the Hawaiian wedding song, we even attempted some hula dancing on the trip back. A must for couples.

We planned a late afternoon cruise to the grotto. The boat holds about 150 people and the ride last about 90 minutes. You get about 30 feet before the grotto. For safety reasons you can't access the grotto but can see the hanging ferns in front of it. The trail to the grotto takes you by a small waterfall. At... More

This was part of a tour package that included Waimea Canyon, and I wasn't sure what to expect, but Wow! we were impressed. The scenery was lovely, and the river boat trip was like stepping back in time. Fern Grotto was gorgeous, but I think my favorite part was the trip back, singing along with the Hawaiian performers and even... More

It's a great sunny day tour upriver to see the Fern Grotto, sleeping giant and beautiful nature walk. We were serenaded by a live band and had a great orator for the trip. Well worth the trip
