Good beach

Good beach. Very family friendly. Not big waves so little kids can play. There is the Lava Lava beach club steps away so the experience can last all day

the beach is directly behind the marriott and the sand is okay, you need to watch for hidden objects (lava rocks) when walking barefoot. The watet is always calm. its bern extremely windy and the ocean is great surfing, yet the water here us still calm. an occassional whale can ve seen breaching if you watch. The sunsets are spectacular..but... More

Average beach but close to the resort. Directly in front of the Marriott. Hapuna beach is better, 10 min drive away.

What a great beach to go whether you walk from a local resort or hotel or drive from another part of the island. A bay has so much space to offer that you never feel crowded. Lots of snorkeling or paddle boarding opportunities as well as great swimming and of course sun bathing. The local hotel offers water activities for... More

Okay it's not baby powder sand friendly on the feet. But put on your shoes and go walking along the ocean. Left (toward Kona town) you'll see a lot of turtles. And you can explore a lot of nooks and crannies where the lava meets the ocean. On the way back you can stop at the Lava Lava Beach Club... More

I used to visit A-beach for its paradise-like look, especially at sunset from behind the fish ponds. After a big storm some years ago, however, many palm trees are gone. Although much of the lost sand has been replaced, the former uniqueness is widely lost. When swimming, watch for a dead coral barrier that stretches over most of the beach.... More

This beach is in a very calm bay, almost like a big swimming pool. It's very sandy and shallow, which is perfect for little kids. It did get a bit windy, which made snorkeling a bit murky. There are fish to be seen, though, so bring your snorkel gear. If you want to paddle board, you should try and bring... More

This beach is great for those that enjoy a long walk as it is rather long. The entrance is between the crowded side ( next to the Marriott) and the quiet side - head left & you'll feel like you were alone! It boasts some of the best sunsets on the island. Snorkelling is ok as long as the ocean... More

We love this beach. It has a reasonably long protected beach of off white sand that is easy on the feet and the ocean is usually calm enough for enjoyable swimming and snorkeling. Perhaps most appealing is that the beach has many free lounge chairs and shade from numerous palm trees, a very nice bathroom and a beach toy rental... More
