We thoroughly enjoyed our tour through the Kilauea lava tubes. Our tour guide, Steve, was very knowledgeable about all the different types of lava and very excited to share the tubes with us. My daughter loved seeing, in person, all of the types of lava and formations that she had learned about in school this past Spring.

Fantastic experience. Steve knows his stuff and really made the adventure exciting and informative. Loved it. Its a bit of an adventure just getting to it because you do have to drive on some dirt roads to find the place. But the area is gorgeous around the cave entrance. Would definitely do again. Highly recommend it.

Our family of 10 had a private tour with Steve who was extremely patient with a 5 year old in our group who asked a lot of questions. He was helpful and knowledgeable. This location is difficult to find but calling Steve, he walked us through how to get there. It was reasonably priced and so worth our time. It... More

We waited a half hour for the guide and he never showed up or called. At noon, two hours after the tour was scheduled for, the guide called and said he had an emergency. Had he called earlier in the day and just noted that he needed to move the tour until noon that would have been fine. However, not... More

Our lava tube exploration was a fantastic experience! Unique and gorgeous. The lava formations in silver and black (and some crystals) were just fantastic. Susie was our guide (along with Cinnamon Girl, sweet dog) and was very interesting and knowledgeable, also patient and helpful with the older member of the group who was slow on the uneven parts climbing over... I read about this lava tube adventure in Fodor's guide to Hawaii. I called and spoke to a very nice guy named Steve. I had to play a little phone tag because of time difference but he always called back. We made a time and date for our visit. When we came to the day to go to the lava... More

This lava tube is unbelievable. It's hard to believe that mother nature made this. There is a beautiful walk through the jungle and down some steps to get to it. There is just enough lighting inside to see where you are going. Constant dripping gets you a little wet.

The Kazamura Lava tube stretches 40 miles from Kilauea Iki to Hilo. My husband and I were excited to find the Caverns of Fire offering a three hour adventure tour into the lava tube. Steve was an amazing guide. He can read the lava formations to tell the stories of the lava flowing, stretching, cooling, etc... He was extremely knowledgeable!... More

This private tour is a must-see. The lava tube is very well preserved and shows stalactites, stalagmites, and many colors of oxidation. It also shows several different kinds of lava throughout. It was very cool to learn about and get a chance to see a specimen so well kept. I wish I had taken more pictures.
