So we read the falls here where nice but once we did the long hike down the steep road we realized that it was of limits. Also we couldn't find it. People where hiking down for the beach but we didn't go to the beach....More

My second visit to the breathtaking Waipio Valley! This time we hiked down the steep road and back to look at the waterfall, which wasnt really flowing this time, due to ranchers and resorts diverting the water. :-( We went to the black sand beach,...More

This was our third visit yo Waipio Valley. This time we took a wagon ride tour into the valley. It was beautiful. I highly recommend taking a tour verses trying to walk down. The road is very steep and walking it would be very hard....More

It is definitely worth the drive to see this scenic overlook. There is very limited parking available. We got lucky and someone was leaving when we arrived. There is a short walk down to the overlook with a bit of a grade. We had seen...More

Well worth the drive to stop and see the valley. The parking lot is VERY small. You might have to park down the street. You can see the valley and beach below. There is a restroom there too (always a plus!!)

I think this might be my favorite spot on The Big Island. For me, the view is absolutely incredible. The weather was a bit overcast the day I was there, but no problem. The view was still amazing and well worth the drive. Unbelievable scenery.

From there to Marriott was about 90 minutes or so but depends on traffic. It is just two lane roads and the speeds are no more than 40-45 on average. There were picnic tables on the top and was covered. We did not trek down... More
