This viewpoint provides stunning views of the Waipio Valley, a valley of significance in Hawaiian history. Easy to reach with good parking around it, the viewpoint offers great views of the valley and the coastline. Worth the trip to see.

There are great views of the coast and waterfalls from the overlook. Take the time to visit if you are on the northeast side of the island.

We were lucky to find a parking spot nearby (30 minutes) and walked downhill to see the view. It was a very nice valley and the explanation on the signs was very informative. The area could use some updating. If you don't hike or take...More

Stopped here while touring the Big Island. It is about 50 miles north of Hilo. About 40 miles on Highway 19 then turn at Honokaa onto Higway 240, then about 10 miles to the lookout. You arrive at a small parking lot. Get here early...More

No you don’t need to book in advance ... however you will need a very reliable 4 wheel drive vehicle (all wheel not acceptable). And in my opinion a experience driver this road is not for novices

Drive is about 45 mins from Hilo. No 4x4 required for the lookout. Have fun!
