Site of "Boiling Pots" and Pe'epe'e Falls. Beautiful view of the river and volcanic formations but heed signs warning against going down to swim in the "pots." I believe someone slipped, falling into the river, hit his head and was critically injured in late July,...More

Wailuku River is the longest river in Hawaii, 28 miles, and also is the source for Rainbow Falls. The State Park contains the lower reach of the river.

Twice recently I went to Boiling Pots with cousins & kids for swimming / diving. It's one of Hilo's best swimming holes. The water was calm when we were there. Beware that it can become very dangerous, as it's name suggests. There are several access...More

Beautiful waterfall outside of Hilo. We had some difficulty finding the place. We prefer Rainbow Fall and Akaka Fall better --- closer to town, easier to find, and just as beautiful if not more.

The group that jumped the fence and were swimming up by the Falls had the right idea. If I ever go back I am doing the same thing. Standing there with your thumb in your butt looking at things from the far distance is lame.

Easy stroll up to see this waterfall and worth it for a beautiful photo shot. The Island is covered with beauty!

It was pretty but very underwhelming during the dry season as you cannot view or hear the "boiling pots". The hike is short and easy, allot about 20-30 minutes to see it all.

Parking is rather at a premium up here at this falls, but it is worth the wait to get out and really take in the majesty of this attraction.

The Wailuku River State Park is close to Hilo and provides a great walk to visit waterfalls and Boiling Pots. Great walk with a few stairs.

You would be able at Rainbow Falls because there is a ramp that goes to the top viewing area. The lower walkway would be obstructed by the retaining wall. Boiling Pots and Pe'e P'e'e Falls I am not so sure of. I cannot... More
