We were told to snorkel there. It looked very much like a lot of other spots, but there were a lot more tropical fish there than most other places. We were not disappointed. Good restrooms/changing rooms. We will return.

We visited this park/beach while in Hilo. There was plenty of shade and swimming to be had. You may even catch a glimpse of sea turtles!

We were looking for a nice beach to visit on the Hilo side of the island. This one has a path that makes getting into the bay to swim easy and lots of grassy areas for lounging and hanging out on.

There really is not much of a beach here, just a very small patch of sand, but we did not go here for the beach but rather for the chance to snorkel. We were not disappointed as we got to see a lot of fish...More

Cold water. No real beach. Hawaii is not Florida when it comes to the beach. Could not get in water in August...too cold. No turtles. Not sure why it is called a beach. No sand...really..rocks.

we really enjoyed the beauty and diversity of this beach.........interesting ponds and then the coastline is beautiful...lots of sea life all around this park and great picturesque views....but if you expect a sandy beach ...this is NOT your place

While perhaps a good beach on the Hilo side of the island, there are much prettier beaches within an hour of Richardson.

Stayed across the street from this park. Grandkids kayaked, fished, and swam at this beautiful park.

I agree with the first two answers above. You don't need to worry about a tour bus, the local bus does run there, but not on Sundays. Just look up the bus schedule online. Or when you get to Hilo you can call the bus company... More
