This park has everything needed for a good afternoon at the beach. Surfers, sand sunbathers, picknickers, and snorkelers all will have a good time here. There are public bathrooms, outside showers to rinse the black sand off your skin and gear, and a police station right there. Ohh, did I mention snorkeling with sea turtles!?! Highly recommend this park.

I loved swimming and snorkeling here. It is pretty easy to get in and out of the water and there is a good chance that you will see sea turtles here. There is a nice beach with sun and shade, depending on your needs.

Richardson Beach is awesome if you don't plan on going into the ocean. Not only do you get to see the black sand beach, but there are frequent sea turtle spottings. The only down side to the beach is that the water is fairly dark and hard to snorkel in. Otherwise, it's a great beach!

Beautiful beach to watch the waves crash against the rocks which protect a lovely little pocket to swim in. Not a super large beach area. It is fun to watch the local families come with their children. Lots of snorkeling. A whale was spotted during our visit.

We came to this park as part of a tour. Peaceful and beautiful. Two very large sea turtles on rocks posing for photos. Kids really got a kick out of seeing the turtles this close.

It was getting late and didn't want to put on swim suits, so we decided to just walk out to the rocks. We were pleasantly surprised to see at least seven large sea turtles swimming into a shallow pool next to the rocks. They had to climb over rocks as the water flowed in and out of the tide pools.... The waves were wild the day we visited, so swimming was not in the cards, but we were lucky enough to be able to see a turtle resting on the sand. It was so sad however to see people going much to close to the turtle. There are lots of fish in the pools as well. There are facilities at... More

A great place to see big sea turtles resting on the top of lava rocks. Some others are resting in the rock pools. They are amazing. The old and small black sand beach is also a place to do snorkeling and swimming activities. The view is so beautiful. Open shower area, bathrooms, picnic tables are available.

Quick stop as part of a day trip form Honolulu. Saw sea turtles resting in a tide pool, loved watching the waves crash in, and loved the black sand, so unusual!
