Beautiful Falls and gorgeous lush greenery and vegetation along the walk but it’s pretty simple. Worth seeing yes, but also we stayed over on the Waikoloa side and I’m not sure the long drive was worth it. We saw this and Rainbow falls the same...More

We saw more waterfalls than I could count in our time in Hawaii and this was one of my favorites. It has a nice little trail to and from the falls. Would absolutely recommend taking a little side trip to see it. It doesn't take...More

This is a great little stop on the North End of the Big Island. There's no volcanic ash drifting over in this area because of the trade winds. Walk down the path and it looks like you're in Jurassic Park. It's a great little side...More

You don't have to be on an expensive tour to enjoy this yourself, as there is a parking lot and the entrance fee is minuscule compared to the cost of a tour. The waterfall itself is gorgeous, but there's also a hike that is breath...More

Easy to drive to. Trails are easy to follow. Scenic but not as long as I expected You don't need more than an hour. You can pay admission with a card at a machine, but cash is easier. Public bathrooms available.

Akaka Falls State Park is north of Hilo and easy to access from the main road. It has well-maintained paths that pass the Big Kauna and Akaka Falls. Quick stop, short walk and amazing waterfalls. $5.00 entry fee.

It’s beautiful and worth the walk. So much beautiful flora and amazing rain forest. Both Big Kahuna and Akaka falls is amazing. We visit Akaka falls every time we visit Kona. Highly recommend this site.

Nice little state park not too far from major road only cost you $5 for parking. Beautiful scenery of falls and short tropical environment trail. Good photo spot. There is fruit stand on the side of road selling fresh cut coconut w/ juice for $8.

It is a little ways down there but worth it. We had 70+ people in our group and no one complained. Paved path and hand rails. Awesome view!! Bring a umbrella!

The easiest way to get around is to rent a car. The airport in Hilo has all the major car rental agencies. Akaka falls isn't too far from Hilo, maybe 10 miles or so. It really shouldn't take you more than 45 minutes to an... More
