we started our vacation with this place. awesome for all age. the tropical plants and cooing of the tropical birds made an amazing environment. there was this Nene which was begging us food and the peacocks were roaming freely. you can't ask for more

A neat place to visit, excellent value (donations gladly accepted, I'm sure they put it to good use). Well kept grounds and gardens. Animals are well cared for, and being a small zoo are remarkably easy to see. There's a nice playground if you have...More

Visited this week! Beautiful little zoo with a nice variety of animals to see. Best part-it's FREE! Don't miss it!

The Pana'ewa Zoo is a lovely place to kill time. We had about 2 hours before we had to check-in to our hotel so we spent it here. We were here for about an hour (could've spent some more time if we dilly-dallied). We don't...More

Money seems to fly our of your wallet in Hawaii, so we were surprised to find a zoo with no admission fee. We thought it might be a fun way to send an hour or so. It is very low key, but there are quite...More

We visit this peaceful little zoo every time we come to Hilo and never tire of it. The grounds are beautiful, trees are identified, and tigers, birds and monkeys are always active. It's really one of my favorite zoos - we always enjoy it. Added...More

I would bet not because there are peacocks walking around on the property. Better call to check.

Aloha - its about a 15 minute drive from the cruise port. You will need a taxi or a rental car. Its near the Macadamia nut factory (farm) as well so you may want to see both while you are out there.
