I got a pair of bison-leather moccasins, American-made, for a toddler's gift. If I had wanted to buy a fake beard of real bison fur, they had that too. A fascinating inventory, from leather halter-tops to jarred bear grease, much of it produced right in the shop behind the sales room.

We enjoyed this place even though we didn't buy very much. We were surprised to find out they gave tours of the back shop where they do the tanning and we learned about the whole process. The quality of the finished goods seems top of the line. They have done coats for the movies (H8ful Eight) and for celebrities.

So many hides and furs and skins. Buffalo, coyote, fox and more! Loved the buffalo fur teddy bear! They tell you to touch and pet all you want!

We met Merlin in a bar and he invited us to look over his shop before we left town. So, true to our word we popped in the day after. This place is both a boutique leather and fur shop and a working tannery; the team here are happy to take you out the back and show how they tan... More

You may believe you are stepping inside a store that will have hides and products for sale, but you will discover there is more than meets the eye. The person welcoming you in the door will possibly be Merlin or his wife. They will fill you with information on how the process works, giving you a tour of the facilities.... More

We happened upon this hide tanning place from the previous review on trip advisor and a leaflet from the town. We stopped by and the lady owner was so welcoming and gave us a full tour of the small tannery where they skin animals such as buffalo and process the hides. She was really informative and it was very interesting... More

GO TO MERLINS HIDEOUT!!! The tannery is on the property and Merlin, the tanner, will give you a full tour. Warning: the tour can be a bit intense (these are animal skins, hides, and furs). My brother and I loved learning how the whole process works. Merlin is a lifelong local with few words but a great sense of humor.... More
