The Big Horn National Forest just west of Sheridan, WY delivers unforgettable views around each bend of the road. The mountainous terrain intersperses stunning rock formations with pine forests and meadows. But the real gem is Shell Falls. This narrow mountain waterfall is just off...More

Great Place to stop when it's open, however it was a real disappointment to get there and it was closed. Maybe next time. The Water Fall is nice regardless if they are open or not I guess.

I love going to shell falls. It is not very far from Sheridan. When you get to the top it is roaring and magical. The water seems so clean :)

This is no Niagara, but nevertheless a beautiful waterfalls. There is a lot of construction in the area, so I wouldn't go just for this. Definitely some good photos can be taken here.

We happened upon this gem while driving to Sheridan WY. Although the road itself wasn't the best (construction/repairs limiting travel to one lane in areas & also bumpy!), the scenery along the way was very nice. Near the top of the grade was this Forest...More

This appears to be a fairly new park with a small visitor's center and paved trails. It's a bit of a drive but (we came from Sheridan) the scenery is enjoyable on the way although there is lots of road construction going on and driving...More

After slogging thru rain/hail/muddy construction on Hwy 14 from Sheridan to Cody, we appreciated the relaxing sound/sight of this pretty waterfall rest stop on West slope. Recommended.

Shell River is named for the mysterious sea shells found in this area by pioneers. How can there be shells with no sea to see? When the river comes to an abrupt chasm, gravity is non-negotiable. The result is a waterfall. In this case, a...More

If you are in this neck of the woods, you must stop!! Very beautiful falls in an amazingly beautiful area! Not handicapped accessible as there are many stairs in which to see the fall from.

We haven't had snow since last month. I think the storm you're referring to was south; Laramie/Cheyenne area.
