Great leisurely drive

Fun drive through the country. See the windmills up close, enjoy food or drink at the Bunkhouse, and explore the rock formations.

After seeing some reviews, I decided to take this road from Cheyenne to Laramie, and it was a great scenic drive. It starts out pretty slow near Cheyenne, but after a few miles, the road begins to climb and the scenery changes from flat plains to rolling hills and then to beautiful rock formations and forest. It was a very... More

If you're in Cheyenne, and especially if you're not a local, you must take and hour or two to drive up Happy Jack Road. Beautiful lake and hiking. Even more fun if you visit the local cowboy bar (you can't miss it... it's the only business you'll see). Have fun!

I made this trip to Laramie, WY on my Harley, and this route is a must (it takes you to the Lincoln Highway Monument at Sherman Hill on Route 30 / I-80).

We loved taking this drive out of town. It's scenic and surprising and beautiful. Rolling prairies, homes and fences, hills and valleys, wind farms and lots of sky.

Nice dive with very little traffic. If your going Cheyenne to Laramie it is a must do. It will only take a few minutes longer than the interstate.

The Happy Jack Road is one of my favorite roads to travel west to Laramie. As a landscape photographer, I have my camera right beside me because the change from grassland to hills to unique rock formation is stunning. But when you combine the land with the great cloud formations, deep blue sky and sunlight bouncing off the rocks leaving... More

This is a good road to travel if you are going to the lakes or a great view of wild life and the mountains. The lakes are fishable and there are 3 of them. Have fun.

We drove from Cheyenne to Laramie to take a look at the U of Wyoming - and drove this route back to Cheyenne to pick up the Interstate headed north. It was beautiful! Definitely a nice change of pace. On the way over, we stopped by the Lincoln status and enjoyed that very much as well. There is a fabulous... More

We drove from Cheyenne to Curt Gowdy State Park and then on to Happy Jack Bike Trail. The scenery was beautiful and hardly any traffic to deal with. A great alternate to driving I-80 to Laramie.
