US Highway 16 is a beautiful drive going west out of Buffalo. To me this is the most scenic way to get to Yellowstone or Jackson or just to travel across the state east to west. In the late spring the wildflowers are spectacular! Keep your eyes open and you might spot a moose or two.

Grades do not exceed 7%. There are plenty of wide spaces to stop with RV's cars etc. to take pictures. Commercial trucks travel this route with ease. Ten Sleep WY is a good place for a lunch stop. Bull Creek or Lake View campgrounds are nice place to camp and fish Meadowlark lake.

I drove this east to west (Buffalo, Wy to Ten Sleep, WY). It is terribly pretty. The scenery through the Bighorn National Forest is excellent. It is a tough drive and you don't know how to drive in the mountains you should read up on wikipedia or something similar. I drive a manual transmission and it was big fun.

See Crazy Woman Canyon, Breath Taking, there are different areas in the canyon, like the all rock area, its amazing to watch the creek run thru ad under the rocks and the way the rocks balance on each other, the campsite are in shaded area and the trees and mountains are so lovely, its a must see

While staying in Buffalo, Wyoming we took a lovely scenic drive on US Highway 16 through Ten Sleep canyon. We loved the scenery. After an ice-cream stop in the town of Ten Sleep we then drove the opposite way back to Buffalo and the views were just as nice.

We left Yellowstone on Sept 12th, on our way to Devil's Tower. It was just starting to snow & we were relieved when we got to Cody & it had stopped. Unfortunately, after we left Worland & started climbing up into the Bighorns it started snowing again! Pretty stressful when you're pulling a trailer! This is a very beautiful, scenic area,... More
