Such a pretty area! Water was so clean, free parking and access. Had a great time with friends while in the area! Far from ferry so make sure you have a car or rent a moped/UTV

Schoolhouse Beach is a must! The limestone rocks and protected bay make it feel like you are in the Caribbean instead of northern Wisconsin, expect the water temperature will bring you back to reality. Even the slightly chilly waters will make you want to jump...More

It's worth it just to feel how smooth the rocks are. There is a swimming platform and changing building too.

Stopped here on the cherry train tour (which wasn't that great either...) - it's a beach with large stones and very cold water. If you are not able-bodied, don't chance walking on the beach.

Absolutely loved the beach and view. Next time I think we will bring sandals since it is a little hard to walk on the beach barefoot. The water was a little chilly at first but once you are in, it feels so refreshing. One of...More

Worth the trip to see this beach with its blue-green water and smooth rocks. Bring a chair to sit and relax bring a book or just stare at the water.

This unique and picturesque beach has limestone rocks smoothed and polished by the lake's waves. The water is usually cold, but you can swim on a nice day. There is also a picnic area. Kids love to play with the rocks on the beach. They're...More

Schoolhouse Beach is a must! Our kids loved it and I guess you get used to the cold. Very beautiful, a perfect way to spend a lazy day on the island.

We saw this lovely beach while riding the cherry train. There are signs not to take the rocks. If you are driving and not on a tour - you can stop and swim. Nice stop - beautiful scenery.

We went to this lovely spot for lunch during our Segway tour of Washington Island. This beach is a local's place, so, for us, a perfect spot to people watch and soak up a little of the local culture. It also gave me a chance...More

Schoolhouse beach is a part of Washington Island and can be reached by ferry or a private boat. The rocks on the beach are soft and round like little bread loaves and is one of the few places in the world where the beach is... More

We are south of Green Bay and the colors are just starting to come out on some of the trees. The east skyline was gorgeous last night with a deep blue sky and some of the trees showing color.

Sure enough, ha, that's a flaw in the Trip Advisor page. Just Google it and you'll find where it is on Washington Island, which is off the northern end of Door County, WI. Note: A ferry ride is required to get out to... More
