Kovac's Planetarium is hand built and a must see - only one of a few like it, based on old time technology, stars hand painted, and cozy set up. Great for a small group or family. Call ahead for reservations, or to fill up a group viewing. Can also be seen in summer night, with corresponding outside star gazing after!

This amazing structure was built by one man (with a little help from his friends). Kovac grew up as a star gazer and shares his enthusiasm for the universe with his informative and engaging show. A popular attraction on rainy days but don't miss it if it does not rain.

In 2015, we took 2 of our grandchildren to Kovac's. LOVED the trip and science lesson!! On Wed. August 17, 2016 we came back with 2 other grandchildren. They couldn't believe such a wonderful place was so close to home! Frank is the BEST narrator and he has to be a genius to have built this place - it's the... More

I never expected it to be the great experience that we had. The owner did a fantastic job in constructing the planetarium. It is very true to reality and he does a fantastic job of engaging the audience, and a great presentation. We took our granddaughter and she wanted to go back the same week. We had to promise to... An amazing structure and one of a kind. This not just explains the movement of the stars but demonstrates in in a way that cannot otherwise be experienced, besides by computer animation. And this is much better! Frank also explains everything as the program goes along. A wonderful family experience.

Frank is the ultimate guide and Host. He makes the stars and the sky and all the planets sooo interesting and fun to learn about. Well worth the price of admission and then some. Also, READ HIS BOOK. What a life story. Definitely as interesting as the show! A real gem in Rhinelander. I'm definitely going back again!😃

It was very cool to see a home built planetarium. The owner is very dedicated to his love of the stars. Not a great on the phone person, but good at his tour and explanation.

This is an experience you will not have again! This is the world's largest mechanical globe planetarium and it was built almost entirely by hand. Frank Kovac is such an amazing guy and knows so much about the universe. His presentation is full of information and will keep the whole family entertained. My daughter was 6 when we went and... My husband is a space buff and found this on Trip Advisor.. so we thought we would give it a whirl! It was beyond our imagination of how it would be! We were invited in by the owner, perused the information that the lobby had on display while we waited for the show to begin and then sat in the... More
