This is reasonably priced and offers a great history about Mining. I suggest you go on a non rainy day, so the kids can ride the minecart train on the outside grounds. The mine your is excellent but it takes awhile to walk it so you may want to wait until kids are at least 5 or 6. There are... More

They have actually recovered and reopened an old lead and a zinc mine to explore. Also, their guide Eric is incredibly informed about the history of the area and a great treasure

Artifacts and information is well presented. It is a self-guided tour that comes after the Rollo Jamison Museum tour and thee mine tour. It had a mildew smell, but not overwhelming.

Not only can you see the Mining Museum and actually go down into an old mine, you can visit the Rollo Jamison Museum, which includes thousands of items from the 19th and early 20th centuries. While many of the items reflect the local... More

It is a two-fer. You can visit the Rollo Jamison museum, then take a one hour tour of an old lead mine on site, and learn about zinc mining. Quite fascinating.

This museum show a historic depiction of the early miners who come to mine the Platteville hills. The tour will take you down a mine shaft of stairs and will not too long tour but will give you a good history less of the early miners of Wisconsin.

A nice piece of Platteville History that is interesting and just the right size to keep the kids interested without losing their attention / patience.
