The Paine Art Center and Gardens is a historic estate with art galleries and display gardens, located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The historic Paine estate serves as a multi-faceted museum for learning and inspiration. The museum preserves the mansion, surrounding architectural structures, and many of the interiors as they were created by founders Nathan and Jessie Kimberly Paine. Selections from the museum's art collection, much of which was acquired by Nathan and Jessie, are featured in the many rooms and settings of the estate. Outdoors, the Paine maintains and enhances numerous display gardens as "galleries" of horticulture with varied designs and thousands of plant specimens. In addition, the museum presents a wide variety of changing art exhibitions, from historical to contemporary, within the estate's galleries and gardens. The Family Discovery Gallery, located on the house's lower level, offers "hands on" activities about architecture, art, and gardens for people of all ages.

The Paine Art Center and Gardens is a must see. If you are interested in viewing the inside of a mansion or if you are interested in a variety of wood used in woodworking, this is the home to see. This is an extraordinarily large home built on the dreams of a couple, and you will learn all about it... More

This is a must see if you are in the area. Many different rooms to visit and the interior is exquisite. Weather permitting the outside garden is a nice place to walk and enjoy the garden. Inside there are various themes to view from various eras.

We saw the John James Audubon large format prints exhibit at the Paine Art Center. Wow, what a magical exhibit in a perfect venue! A number of his large format (life sized) prints were on display in full color and they were tied together by a wonderful video/short movie of his life - fascinating! The estate building was the perfect... More

It was raining today, so we decided to tour the historic estate. Beautiful structure and gardens. It gave us some ideas for our garden at home! There was a small admission and we could self-tour or join a guided tour. We walked around on our own and we're able to see everything. Audubon art was featured.

This remarkable home is more of a castle than a home. Exhibits are very tastefully done and the tour of the home is so educational and interesting. The gardens around the home and in the back are just beautiful and one could spend hours visiting the beauty of this great find in Oshkosh.

In the summer months this the gardens are beautiful. In the spring they sell garden place t-shirt. T h e interior of the house is very well done from the lumber days.

The Paine Art Center and Gardens just does thing right. The grounds a beautiful and very well maintained. There are markers explaining many of the plantings and you often find volunteers helping tend the plants while you visiting. They are most informative and obviously enthusiastic. Inside the building the displays are extremely well done and always worth your time to... More

We visited The Paine to see the fabulous John James Audubon prints and found a lovely local story as well. We enjoyed both. The home and gardens offer a glimpse into the history of the area. The woodwork and finishing details in the house are exceptional. Only down side for us was how small the venue is- we would have... More
