Downtown Milwaukee is really cool, fun and safe, but I really love the third ward. Everything is walkable, so many shops like the Milwaukee Home Store, Milwaukee Public Market and tons of bars and restaurants.

This is a fun neighborhood in the city. I definitely recommend walking around this area for a bit. The highlight is the public market, which is a great spot to grab lunch.

This is a great neighborhood if you're looking for cute boutiques to check out. Mod Gen is a store on Broadway that is worth checking out.

I would go to the art museum and eat there. Pretty lake views even if art isn't your thing. And there are a couple of places to eat there that have good quality food.

I was there over the Labor Day weekend and they had a huge Arts and Crafts show, and live music. Their were quite a few family's there but the weather was perfect, what time of year are you going?
