It's like a little oasis in the middle of the city. I couldn't believe this amazing little spot exisited, and after never hearing about it, we had a amazing family adventure. From checking on the animals, (cows, sheep, chickens, pigs) to walking through the garden and the buildings. For our three year old she LOVED the old toys (horse shoe... More

We love coming to the farm museum, whether it's for a little peaceful walk through the gardens and the barn, or into the Rose & Kettle Tea Room for tea or lunch (and always with dessert!), or to attend one of the events. We always leave relaxed and refreshed. A real hidden gem!

Thank you very much Sherri for your review. We are glad to hear that you enjoy so many aspects of the Farm Museum. "Refreshed", along with relaxed, restorative....these are some of our favourite adjectives to hear from visitors. There is something very special about reconnecting with our rural heritage and that is what we want visitors to experience. We look... More

Thank you for your recent visit and review. We are very glad you were pleased to see this piece of farming history preserved in what is now an urban area. We do work hard to combat ants in our 175 year old farmhouse which houses the tearoom. We employ local pest control on a regular basis to assist us with... More

You should make an effort to come out to see this place. Give the chance to see and touch some of the animals. They have it all done up for the Holidays and have a great collection of Photos and artefacts from the area.

Pigs and calves were outside, the pigs in a very small enclosure. Two large sheep were in a dark barn in a very small enclosure. The fancy chickens were in a crowded small cage in the same dark barn. I live in Wales where sheep run wild, outside in all weathers. The sun was shining and I'm sure they. Ould... More

We are very sorry to read of your disappointment with the accessibility of our museum and our animal spaces. The Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum is owned and operated by the Cole Harbour Rural Heritage Society, a small community group with a volunteer Board of Directors and a permanent staff of two. It is an original Cole Harbour farm cultivated... More

Do bring the kids and the kid at heart here to see the Working Farm and pet the animals. It is a little bit of history that is still alive and well in the city.

The Farm is amazing. It houses the oldest building in the area, and a collection of photos and artifacts that would rival any museum. The tea room serves great food, especially the scones/biscuits. A working farm in the middle of the city...priceless.

Passing through Halifax? Kids of any ages with you? MUST DO. We spent 2 hours at the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum today. Got there at opening time (in fact 5 minutes early) and lucked out because the helpful, friendly staff was just taking the animals out of the barn - lots of activity in a tiny little, very special... Although this is a small semi working farm, they have original buildings,, tools & animals for viewing. Lovely gardens for pictures. An old fashioned tea room with a home cooked lunch. Only 2 or 3 items offered daily on menu, but the food was good & wholesome .. Homemade bread & deserts.
