Stopped to see beach - beautiful historic area. Very nice bay and beach with spring fed small creeks running into it.

Newport State Park offers a smaller, but much less crowded sandy beach for wading and swimming. The shoreline slopes out gradually, so even small children can enjoy it. But there is no lifeguard on duty. The beach area provides a shelter, a water spigot, grills,...More

More authentic than Peninsula Park and very accessible trails. Campground possibilities. Beware of mosquitoes during summer time (repellant required!).

You find some great trails to hike in this state park. Especially worthwhile is the Europe Bay Trail which gives on a scenic seven mile hike to Europe Lake and back.
