A great little geologic excursion

Slot canyon easily accessed after a 3 minute walk. Cool to see the erosion of sandstone bedrocks as a result of Glacial Lake Wisconsin draining through Baraboo and the Dells.

We live about an hour from here but I had never heard of it until yesterday. We took our dogs and had a wonderful hike. The gorge and the waterfalls are absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to come back in the summer and swim in the water. I probably won't jump off one of the cliffs (apparently that's pretty popular)... More

On this trip up to The Dell's we went hiking at Pewit's Nest. We got there around 12:00 and parking was already limited, but fortunately we found a spot. The area was still bare but still was a nice place to home and look at the natural beauty of the place. You will get wet so wear proper shoes. The... More

I tell people how much we enjoy going there!! There is a creek that runs through it. And the teenage kids enjoy climbing the rocks. There are also two little waterfalls to go down so if you walk down the creek through the gorge you may want to keep that in mind.

The place is gorgeous but we went in mid Dec and it was our bad. Our hike was tough even with strong winter gear and could have been dangerous. Still happy we went because the view was amazing!

Beautiful. Stunning. Really that sums it up. What a great place to escape to. The water rushing over the falls is soothing and grounding. Be careful around the top ledges, they are steep and drop far down and the rock is usually wet with dew or slippery with leaves. Walk along the river downstream and around the bend for a... More

You go there in the very off season and time of week and day. This is another gem ruined by the vast amount of people and the garbage they leave behind. As a local, I fell in love with this place because I stumbled upon it when there was no one there. I keep driving by it, hoping to get... More

We were told about this place by the desk clerk at our hotel. It was a very beautiful hike. There were a few small waterfalls- people were taking many pictures. The parking lot was small but we had no issues. I would recommend as a place to stop and hike. Trail was in decent shape. Watch out for small tree... More

Great spot! One of many Wisconsin protected natural areas. Takes quite a bit of effort to see and appreciate but well worth it. Go early to get one of the limited parking spots and whatever you do don't park on the road or you will be out a hefty sum of cash. Great spot for photography but it is hard... More
