After a short walk across the frozen land bridge it was a walk through a winter wonderland. You don't want to miss the ice formations surrounding the island!a

Crossed the ice covered path to get to the lighthouse. It was closed, but my interest was outside. Neat fog rolled in. Crashing waves on icebergs gave you a real feel for the importance of these lighthouses back I the day!

Thank you for your review. I would completely agree. We might be biased though considering we are both talking about a beloved landmark. All seasons look beautiful around it!

First venture to the island was wadding through the water washing across the path in May. In August decided to take the tractor wagon. Both were fun to do. At the island you pay to visit and/or climb the lighthouse. The lighthouse attendants provided quite...More

Thankfully the day we went someone was giving tractor rides to the island, otherwise we would have had to walk through water. Once you get to the island you pay to either just be on the island, or to climb to the top of the...More

Went to the Lighthouse on a trip to Door County. You have to take a wagon ride over to the island. It was a little scary, because the lake was 5 feet higher than normal. So the trail was covered with water, but they drove...More

Thank you for your great review. The tractor and wagon were definitely an addition to help with the high water and getting visitors to the island. We will have it next year as well. Lots of fun for all ages.

Riding a tractor pulled wagon is the most fun to be had..This lighthouse is so beautiful and is kept in good repair. The grounds were pretty, and the scenery is beautiful, no matter where you look.

Thank you for your review. It is very interesting managing a lighthouse on an island. There are always natural factors to take into consideration. Weather, high water, bugs - they all keep us guessing :)
