My family lives in North Central West Virginia and I have never heard of these falls. Visiting Lewisburg, we decided on a day trip to Sandstone Falls. Took the scenic route and we're lucky to happen upon John Henry's monument near Talcott, WV. Stopped in...More

The road to the falls is awful. There is road work for over 6 miles. So places are so rough car bottomed out.

This path is nicely maintained and easy to navigate. Don't let the road detract from getting to the falls, it is worth the trip, Bring your picnic supplies as there are tables and grills. For some relaxation take a fishing poll along.

The falls and walkway out to the falls very relaxing. Walkways and walking bridges allows you to walk 3/4 way across river to view the falls. There are accesses to get to the river if you want to. Only draw back as of writing this...More

Not high waterfalls but they are quite impressive in their own right. We saw them first from the overlook on HWY 20, then at the visitors center the ranger told us we should go see them from river level if we had time. The road...More

It's a bit of a drive down the west side of the New River from Hinton. The park below the falls has the concrete restroom and a great series of trails and bridges going out to the New River. The view of the falls is...More

On the way to Sandstone Falls we stopped at the visitor center and learned a lot about the environment and the area. From there we enjoyed the 18 mile drive to the waterfalls. The last 4-6 miles were on a narrow stretch of road that...More

Someone of the New River Gorge Park, told us we would really like this Sandstone Falls, When we went there, I couldn't see anything! There must have been some steep trail to go down, but seeing as I was in a wheelchair, it was just a wasted trip.

There are two places to see Sandstone falls. The one you want to go to is on the New River Road (WV26) which is pretty much at the river level. If you go to the falls overlook on WV20 then you will be high up off the river... More
