This place is so serene. It offers lots of activities throughout the year. They have a beautiful Christmas tea every year as well. In the fall they open the barns and people dress in period clothing and demonstrate various skills from back in the day such as blacksmithing, spinning etc...check out the calendar you won't be disappointed. The food is... More

I went on a group trip to Adaland. This was a great place to go. We had a catered lunch which was delicious. We got to tour the grounds. This trip was well worth it and very enjoyable!

The tour - at well over an hour, and much more detailed than it probably should have been for this size of a mansion - cost $10. You certainly get your money's worth. Having been passed down through several generations and different owners, nothing is left to the imagination, as almost everything is labeled. There are numerous rooms, all beautifully... More

Adaland is a beautiful, refurbished jewel. I had the pleasure of attending a wedding there. It is quaint, yet spacious enough to accommodate guests. The volunteers have done a most admirable job during the past decade to bring this homestead to its current the level of grandeur. Take the time to visit and support this beautiful West Virginia jewel! Job... More

Beautiful location for weddings. Kind of out in the country with a beautiful view. Places both inside or outside for indoor or outdoor wedding. I'd recommend. Place also does guided tours, or rent for other purposes

The story of this mansion mirrors the history of the area. The mansion was built by the first judge in Philippi and was later purchased by a coal mine. It was then donated to the local municipality and restored to its former glory.
