My spouse and I spent five hours walking about the city this early April from the downtown area to the historic east end and back again. As visitors to Charleston, we simply meandered. While Capitol Street is about 8 blocks long, it is the four...More

No matter when you visit this area, park in a parking garage because the city of Charleston will find a way to ticket you. I have parked for 30 minutes with 2 hrs on the meter only to get a ticket. I have reported these...More

There are many restaurants on Capitol Street, but I prefer "Pie's and Pint's the best. Great pizzas -- much more varied and tasty than the chain restaurants -- plus other entrees, craft beers, wine, and popular.

I love Capitol Street. It's one of those areas that kind of makes you forget you're in WV. Not that there's anything wrong with being in WV, but it's just different than what we're typically surrounded by. There's something for everyone too, from food to...More

Be sure to get coffee at Taylor Books and nuts and the Peanut Shop. There's plenty of food choices (American, Asian, pub, Italian, Greek, pizza) and several gift shops.

This is the busiest street in Charleston and has little shops and restaurants. I was expecting more shops, but the ones there are worth a look.

Granted we walked Capitol Street on a cold Monday night but being told this was the "happening" street where we would find some interesting restaurants and local nightlife it was a bit of a disappointment. I will say it does have some nice old architecture...More

The one picture you consistently see of Capitol Street with the clock is the only real charming part. There are a few stores of interest and a good pizza place to eat and homemade ice cream. Other than that, half of the street is occupied...More

Yes. I believe all public places must be wheel chair accessible (I think it's a law there).
