We took 3 train rides near Elkins West Virginia. Cass was our favorite. Helpful park ranger and a small museum with an informative film. The ride was nice but we went in October and it was cold. (Pass on the hot chocolate at the stop...More

Nice ride, with good narration from josh. The open air train cars offer no protection in the event of emergency. Let alone bald knob has no shelter built to take cover during Inclement weather conditions. Granted being on top of mountain means remote access, to...More

We stayed overnight 10/20/18 in the caboose at top of Bald Knob! Overnight it snowed about 6 inches! Absolutely beautiful!

My husband and I took the trip to Bald Knob for the first time. I chose a date, hoping it would be peak leaf season (Oct 23), but the leaves were already off the trees by then. While we didn't have the colorful beauty, the...More

We took the 5 hour Bald Knob trip. It was awesome! Josh, our non-stop-talking guide made the history come alive. The views, the forests, the trains - there was always something to look at and enjoy. The bag lunch was good - meat/cheese/bun, chips, apple...More

We took the train to Whitaker Station. Be sure to dress warm. The cars are open air and the elevation is over 3,000 feet at Whitaker. The scenery is beautiful, although regretfully the leaves had not started to turn when we were there. There is...More

Our train ride included a hobo lunch, which consisted of ham, turkey and cheese sandwich, bag of chips, applesauce, cookies and a bottle of water. You could probably bring your own food, if you wanted.
