Stay away
Nov 2019 • Couples
For $350, my wife and I in a class of four made breaded shrimp, bruschetta, and spanakopita. That was our dinner. Desert was watermelon and prickly pear cubes. You are advised bring two bottles of wine per couple. Guy wearing a chef's jacket was the teacher. He spoke French and learned to cook from his father a chef in France. There are many many places where I can learn about French cooking and enjoy a full meal for $350.

Rude and condescending
Mar 2016 • Couples
Booked class via groupon, received confirmation on 3/19. Got baby sitter and showed up for class on 3/21 and it was canceled. The lady we dealt with was rude and condescending, the same way she had been on the phone when we called prior to the reservation. It may be a great class but in my opinion nit worth enduring the uppity rudeness.

We went for a Cooking class
I would recommend this activity to anyone who has any interest in food, France, wine and making new friends. The recipes and food are amazing that I was able to help make and learn new techniques. The Chef was very knowledgable and the owner of the B&B is also incredibly knowledgable about France.

Best French Cooking Classes in Seattle
There are cooking classes and then there are cooking classes. The ones at Auberge Edge of Seattle are magical. Nancy, the proprietress, thinks of everything to make the evening special. She brings in chefs who are actually from France and they give the instructions on the food preparation. Everyone pitches in, and there is a real camaraderie. It's nice that there is a dress code, so that adds to what makes it extra fun. Beautiful linens, silver and china are used for a lovely sit down dinner, which is generally classical French cuisine. I have taken 3 classes here and have signed up for a 4th, and plan to do more after that. Highly recommended!

Unique experience revisited
This was our second visit. We enjoyed it so much we decided to come again.
We are not 'cooks' but the first time we visited we learned many handy hints in the kitchen that we used almost daily. That was such a fun experience we decided to try again when we were in the Seattle area.

This visit was equally great! Our hostess, Nancy, provides an atmosphere for good conversation. Our, chef James, provided excellent instruction in a fun light hearted way.

Groupon Cooking Class
My son son and I had a fabulous time. He wants to be a chef and he loved being exposed to the pate class. Chef Paul Paul and Nancy were very nice and inviting. It was a beautiful setting, I love the grounds. We were able to sample the Pate and pickled asparagus before we left. Our loaves turned our wonderful at home as well. We want to go back for more classes.
Tip:This was a cooking class, I did not stay at the B & B.

cooking basics and much more
My family recently purchased a package of the basic cooking series classes for me....perhaps this is a bit of a hint to my cooking abilities? Anyway, over the past several months I have attended cooking classes at this well appointed establishment. The classes are fun and informative and Chef Paul has a very nice way of presenting the material that helps everyone feel excited and anxious to try the evenings lesson. I have enjoyed the company of the other classmates working in our groups under Chef Paul's watchful eye and I have taken home the confidence to practice what I have gained from the classes that I have attended. I am amazed at the difference this hands on experience has made in my attitude about cooking and the desire to serve all home cooked meals which are a pleasure to make, serve and consume.
I was also pleased to learn that the owner, Nancy, also runs a bed and breakfast and offers other group events here! The property grounds are in a area that lends to the relaxing tone of a getaway while also being centrally located to the abundant local wineries while not being too far from other Seattle attractions.

Great cooking classes
So far I have taken 9 cooking classes at l'Auberge, with about 5 more scheduled, and I have had a wonderful experience in each of them. Four of the classes were with Chef Paul (basics) and five with Chef Ryan (brunch and a dinner course). Both are excellent teachers and go through great lengths to answer any questions that come up or demonstrate anything we’re asking for (sometimes many times). The mix of background information followed by hands-on practice has been just right, and for the brunch and dinner courses you actually have a formal setting to enjoy everything that was prepared. Every single class I learned something new and was able to do it home with confidence as well. The highest praise I can give is the fact that my youngest daughter didn’t want to go out for her birthday dinner this year, but requested something that I had learned to make in one of the classes. The payoff doesn’t get any better than that.

Nancy, the proprietess and owner of l’Auberge, has been a fabulous host on every single location. She goes out of her way to make everyone feel welcome and included in her beautiful home and very well equipped kitchen (professional stoves, oven, lots of specialty items, etc). It’s fun to look around at all the vintage pieces she has accumulated over the years, both in the kitchen and dining room. She has many stories to share about those (just ask), and always keeps the conversation flowing when we sit down for brunch or dinner. She recently started making macarons at l’Auberge, and don’t miss the chance to try those and get some – they are absolutely delicious.

I’ve done some cooking classes at other places, e.g., Sur la Table, and while those have been good as well, the variety of classes at l’Auberge and my interactions with Nancy and the Chefs keep me signing up for more.

Food and chef good, owner bad
Booked their three hour cooking class using a groupon, which was advertised as 53% off. So if that's the case, would t you expect regular menu, ingredients and teaching that you would get had you not Paid for the regular class?!? No. We were constantly told we were a groupon class and had tO cut corners to keep price low.

The owner lady is unlike anyone else- rude condescending bristly. She hurries you out of there as soon as she can, even if that means kicking you out before your food has been serve. Take my advice, If you are looking for a good cooking class, go to sur la table or hip cooks or Dianne's. This place is a joke! All for 53% off a real joke though.

A fabulous time at my cooking class
Last night was the best time I've ever had at a cooking class! Not only was Philippe a fun teacher with patience, a great sense of humor and his charming French accent... but the other "classmates" made it a special night, as well. Nancy, the owner, was so welcoming and friendly that I felt as though we had met before. One of the nicest parts that other cooking classes have not included, was that after cooking our dinner, we were told to sit down at our formal tables while Nancy and Philippe served us dinner!
Since I was able to take advantage of a Groupon offer, the cost was very reasonable, but I will go back again without the Groupon... It was a wonderful evening!
