This little 1050 acre refuge is a gem at the gateway to the Columbia gorge. This has become my go-to place in the Portland area for viewing and photographing wildlife: Eagles, Herons, Harriers along with dozens of other species abound here. The scenery alone is...More

This is a peaceful and pretty walk. I always see birds from the trail. For those that need a good walking surface, this is a nice walk. So close to the city, but feels like you are away.

I've been visiting Steigerwald Lake NWR since 2010 and it's my favorite spot for birding, walking, and getting away from the urban activity of Portland. It's also one of the most beautiful spots in the Portland-Vancouver area and still relatively undiscovered. On a clear day,...More

Great place to walk. The loop takes about 1 1/2 hours depending on the wildlife that is out there. Dogs are not allowed and neither is jogging. The trail is gravel along with the parking lot. Good for the three wheel stroller but the four...More
