Description:

Treat your family to a special day at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium....

Treat your family to a special day at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. Where else can you see seahorses and sharks, peacocks and penguins, wolves and walrus, all in one place? The 29-acre Zoo is large enough to offer an awesome array of animals yet small enough to let you get really close to them. Our keepers often roam the grounds, taking animals on strolls so you can see them up close. Who knows? You might run into a lynx on your way to see the polar bears! Be sure to visit Kids Zone. This fanciful exhibit engages children in active learning through play. The focus is on fun, movement and learning what animals need to thrive. The breathtaking views of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier and the Olympic Mountains are free - and so is the parking. So what are you waiting for? Bring your family to see ours. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is open at 9:30 a.m. daily. Closing times vary. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is just minutes off of I-5 in beautiful Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, WA.

If you enjoy Pokémon Go, it's a gold mine. However, as a zoo, it's in a beautiful location with beautiful animals. But the exhibits left me feeling incredibly guilty for how much I paid for them to be living in such small spaces. Definitely wouldn't go back and still feel guilty for contributing to their small habitats :(

We visit almost every week. It's a great place to take a walk or a class. And we live about 20 minutes away. During the winter months, you virtually have the zoo to yourself during the week. Get a membership if you live in the area, it pays for itself, even if you only go twice. I've noticed a lot... More

Visited the zoo lights on December 30, 2016. Best display yet! There was something to see everywhere along the paths. Takes about 2 hours to explore so it's just right. Hot drinks and food are available. We got there just after opening at 5, found parking fairly close and no line to get in. By the time we left at... More

We go just about every year but this year they did even better displays. The hot chocolate station was open so were both concessions, The aquarium was nice and worm, and happy people working the gift shop.

We typically stop and visit the Point Defiance Zoo a couple times a year. You will have no problem spending a day enjoying all the animals, well put together. The Aquarium is also nicely done.

I have been to many comparable sized city zoos and left depressed. However, the PDZA is extraordinary in it's spacious exhibits, clear care for the animals, diversity of animals and installations, that we always leave happy and thirsting for our next trip. Also super cool that it is in Point Defiance as it sets you up for an easy day... More

We have been going to Zoolights here for decades. While it is always fun with great displays, this year was somehow way better. One thing they did was switch things around and put displays in new places. Beyond that, there seemed to be new displays too. Simply spectacular. Plus, some of the animals are out and about from the penguins... More

Went to see Christmas lights at the zoo/aquarium. What an unorganized mess! No parking. No shuttle. No side walks. No lighting. Limited access. Just bring your money. It's a "ZOO" alright. Over an hour sitting in bumper to bumper traffic. Park and walk in 2+ miles. Saw people walking with strollers out in traffic. Just crazy. Never have to do... More

I know its not peak summer time, amd remodeling is important, but we paid full price to see the animals and a lot of our favorites were closed and that was very disappointing

Their Christmas light display is out of this world! Take the whole family and start a holiday tradition! Bundle up, it's a chilly walk!
