Tacoma's waterfront parks are the northwest's happy secret. They're more beautiful that those in Seattle and easier to get to. You can rent kayaks, fish, or swim here and it's a short hop to other family activities as well.

Beautiful rocky beach! Enjoyed the walk to the beach from zoo and aquarium. The view from the beach was spectacular and the water was refreshing.

Visited in the morning. The weather broke enough for us to tour a few of the gardens on foot and drive around the park. There is a lot to see and do here. It is well worth a visit.

Point Defiance Park has something for everyone. Beautiful gardens, enclosed behind a high fence to keep the deer from eating the flowers, a nice beach to stroll along, deep woods to explore. Anyone interested in area history will want to visit Fort Nisqually. It was...More

We have been to the park many times for events such as the Taste of Tacoma or for living history re-enactments. Beautiful, spacious park with walkable trails and some drive through access. Lots of Pokestops and Pokemon if you play.

Very peaceful place to relax by the water alone or with a partner. There is a zoo in the park which i did not visit. Also have a visitors center which you can purchase souvenirs and ask questions.

Sorry this took so long-I don’t think it does unless it’s new. There are some in Tacoma however. Dogs can be walked through the park as long as leashed.

Should be nice, but although they are having a warm rain free summer, some rain any month is the norm, so check out the forecast on accuweather before you go so you are prepared.

Historically, we have had red foxes living in the park, but regulars have said there have been fewer sightings in recent years. They are extremely elusive, nocturnal animals. There are no particular locations in the park... More
