Came for the first time this week and drove around the five mile drive. The place is chock-full of hiking trails and maps, and lots of picnic areas. Must come back next year and explore this beautiful park more!

I took a family member from Palm Springs for a drive through the park and it was beautiful. It has some pullouts but mostly you just drive though a beautiful forest with occational views of the Puget Sound. We did park and took a short...More

This is a really great spot near the water. There is a zoo near by that I had been to before. This time my husband and I walked around the park and to the beach. I recommend good walking shoes, water, and comfortable clothing if...More

This is a great way for adults and children to spend three hours. It's very educational and fun. The layout is great and everything is labeled/marked well. You can avoid the admission lines and save a few dollars by purchasing your tickets online.

I've lived in the northwest forever... but why have I not been to Owens beach? Lots of room, great boat watching.... I'm making my next party here. For sure. Beautiful!

Wow...this place is amazing. I couldn't get over how peaceful and serene this place was. The sounds of the trees, water, birds, and critters was soothing. We actually visited several times in our stay in Tacoma. We saw deer, including one with some of her...More

Hey, does anyone know anything about the red foxes at Point Defiance Park? I have seen arctic foxes there (at least at the zoo), but never seen a red fox through there (even on the 5 mile drive). I have raccoons and deer, but am curious to see where all of the red fox sightings are and how to go about seeing them. Has anyone else had a sighting of the red foxes at Point Defiance (besides the arctic foxes at the zoo)

Historically, we have had red foxes living in the park, but regulars have said there have been fewer sightings in recent years. They are extremely elusive, nocturnal animals. There are no particular locations in the park... More
