Established in 1984. What began as winemaker Scott Pontin's high school FFA project has culminated into a 25 year legacy of estate winemaking. A new facility including tasting room, case storage, warehouse and offices totaling 5,000 square feet next to the family farm in Prosser marks the grand occasion. The Pontin family is no stranger to farming. Since 1954 Nesto and Delores Pontin have been farming on the same land. They began as turkey farmers until 1967 and sold concord grapes for juice to Yakima Valley Grape Producers, now Welch's. The family also farmed wheat, mint, potatoes and sugar beets and later planted five varieties of apples, which they still farm today. Today Pontin del Roza is a thriving estate winery with 100 acres of 10 varietals including: Riesling, Malbec, Syrah, Dolcetto, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère and Petit Verdot. With production at around 4,500 cases per year, many grapes are still sold to other wine producers, as Pontin desires to maintain a small, family winery.

You'll most likely be greeted by second generation owner Scott in the beautiful building and can taste anything they currently have available for sale. Wines from "Italian" vines that aren't so common are often available. We also just happen to like many of their wines.

One of the older wineries in the area, it was a nice place to visit when the "tasting room" was the miking parlor prior to the current beautiful building. You'll be warmly greeted by a family member or an equally knowledgeable long term employee and can taste whatever they have. While this review is about the visit, we also happen... More

Wonderful wines in a beautiful setting. For the vino, selection of excellent wine - both red and white and you will not find better price vs quality anywhere in Washington. Believe me on this, I've been to many. Situated in the county (vs a wine village or tilt-up warehouse) the tasting room is new and modern with additional outdoor seating... More

Stopped in to try wines and ended up being served by the owner himself, fresh out of the fields. Beautiful tasting room with a wonderful selection of wines. He spent a lot of time sharing with us about the area; the hops, apples, vineyards, family etc. Really enjoyed talking with him. His son and daughter have a gem of a... More

We had a lovely visit at this tasting room. The wines are delicious and well priced. It was also nice to see that the wine maker contributes wine to a future farmers of America project. They also have chilled wine and non alcoholic drinks available, even Welch's grape juice. We had a nice talk with the wine makers mom. They... More

One of the top two Rieslings in the area. Very reinstatement of Germany Mosel Riesling from my you. Stop if at all possible.
