I wanted a winter getaway in a historical town and Port Townsend fit the bill perfectly. Fort Worden is a great base for travelers with cars. I rented a house that used to be officers' quarters; with winter rates & paying 100% upfront it was a steal. The Fort has a fascinating mix of history, hiking & biking trails, beaches,... More

They have totally redone this fort, beautiful repainted, is part on of top of small mountain and then goes down to beach. Has light house, cannons and bunkers and campground across from beach.

Long sandy beaches, rocky headlands and cliffs, a lighthouse, a great marine science center and coastal artillery museum, many winding trails and former military buildings. Nice campground near water and park conveniently abuts Port Townsend.

A visit to Fort Worden is mandatory when visiting Port Townsend.Great walking trails in the woods can take you as far as North Beach. The Point Wilson light house and its views across to Whidbey Island and out the Strait of Juan de Fuca are great. Nice beaches and a good camping area round out this state park. A $10... More

This place, simply put, is a treasure. You will pay $10 to enter park. I wish people would respect trail boundaries and such, but they're not and it shows. I understand why it's $10 a car these days. And....This isn't your dog's poddy box! Clean up after yourself. Walk around the dilapidated light house. It's a hoot.

This is a cool place! So much to see and learn. Not to mention, breathtaking views (you can see Canada from the lighthouse). Visit the Battery Kinzie... great to explore, if not a little spooky!!! Many dark corridors to explore... very fun (especially for the teens... well, and me too). Best of all- didn't see a single spider in the... More

What's to say? It's always interesting, well tended, and they are really stepping things up with lodgings and places to eat! Love the hilltop battery hill hike. Wow. Fascinating place. Always visit when I'm in PT.
