This is a great little state park. Perhaps 30 sites good for tents and small campers. Nice clean restrooms with showers. There are excellent hiking trails originating at the park. Water is available but there are no plug in for campers.

This is easy to get to on the Washington side of the river on Hwy 14, and worth the drive for a beautiful view of the Columbia River gorge.

We went in January and were able to park at the trail section. The entrance for the state park was closed and pretty covered in snow. Where we parked, there was a box were you could purchase the pass ($10) and place on the car's dashboard. Bathrooms were right there and signs for trails were everywhere. Sadly, the trails were... If you don't have much time to spend at the park, we found hiking the Hamilton Mountain trail up 1.25 miles to Rodney Falls, Hardy Falls, and Pool of the Winds (all quite close together) to be worth the 75 min it took us to complete. This could easily be hiked in under an hour (we stopped for photos). Note... More

This is an absolutely favorite short hike in the Columbia Gorge. The trail is a set of constructed switchbacks up the very steep side of Beacon Rock. Perfectly safe if you stay on the trail. The view of the Gorge is spectacular. The experience is great. Typically open 8 am to dusk. You can park at the base, next to... More

Upon arrival, I discovered I couldn't buy a Discovery Annual Pass at the Beacon Rock Trailhead, I had to go elsewhere. I didn't really understand where elsewhere though, so I went to the campground expecting to find a ranger building, but no luck. Went to the trailhead for Hamilton Mountain, read that I needed to go 2 miles one direction... More

So there is about three parts of this park. You can actually see the Beacon Rock, the remains of the caldera of a long gone volcano, from the road. There is a trail up the rock and through the area. The ranger information building is west of the Rock and has very limited parking in front of a garage.

What a wonderful place. If you like picturesque scenery, search this place out. Tip - get an extended discovery pass for all,of the parks in Washington, works out much cheaper. Also, visit Multnomah Falls across the river in Oregon whilst here.

This is my new favorite hike. The payoff is almost immediate - the trail leads you out of the woods and up the rock face, where there are spectacular views of the river and gorge almost the entire way up. The trail is well-maintained, paved in some places, and with a handrail the whole way up the rock. Lots of... More

We visited Beacon Rock State Park. Picnic tables, restroom and a few trail choices on Hamilton Mountain. We were looking for an easier trail so we chose Pool of the Winds trail. Found the trail a beautiful and easy hike to an interesting falls. Would recommend it it you are looking for a nice, not too challenging hike.
