We drove to Mt. St. Helen's from Tualatin Oregon where we were camping. The drive was beautiful! We stopped at the first visitor center, watched the movie and got information on the way to Mt. St. Helens. The Johnston visitor center had a excellent display inside as well as a large theater in which to watch the movie. The view... More

Just your normal visitors center. Lots of made in China stuff to buy. Staff were knowledgable and helpful. Stopped in to pick up destination specific info. Good supply in well stocked display racks. Very nice facility.

Certainly worth three time and $5 entry. Good film and lots of good info. We learnt a lot and this made the drive up much more meaningful.

having lived through the eruption in 1980, it was a very enlightening trip back to the mountain that caused so much heartache and trouble 37 years ago. The visitor's center is a great asset to the national parks system. The film showing the eruption is very informative, though it could be updated to show the progress the area as made... More

A great way to learn the story of the 1980 Mt St Helens eruption. There is an excellent film of the event an some very informative displays. Well worth the stop.

The history of this Volcano is just as stunning as the mountain itself. To see the destruction which has turned into beauty is truly a spectacular thing! You won't. E disappointed by this place. The education you receive from the visitors center is wonderful. Bring a camera!

Was surprised how close this was to town only -5 miles up the road. The rangers were very friendly - Shared maps and indicated where to go and what was open since some places were closed till May. There is a $5 entry fee to see the exhibits and the film. It is worth it. While it is not real... More

The visitors center is very nice, with plenty of rest rooms, walkways, and a tremendous view of Mt. St. Helen's . When it's open, they have an informative tour of the mountain and its history. Also a gift shop.
