I love the idea of preservation of battlefields but this battlefield is not being well kept. The bridge across the stream was dangerous. You could see where large trees were cut and just left in piles. It looked like there were piles of mulch and...More

This is a hidden gem in Virginia. Good historical markers and beautiful scenery. I rate it very good because I wouldn't want to be there alone. Feels a little sketchy at times.

The battlefield has been kept to resemble how it looked in 1864. There is an easy walk of up to 5 miles through the rolling countryside; placards describe the battle. While hiking, saw a fox.

Signs are well place. Learn about the biggest battle in Winchester. Nice scenery on this walk. One part gets kinda confusing where to walk but the path is well maintained.

5 mile trail with beauty! This trail is off of Red Bud Road and is such a pretty place to walk your dog or some freedom for the kids to roam

This is a nice place to visit, but make sure you are in the mood to walk and have the time to take it in. As with most historical locations its best to read as much as possible before visiting so that you are able...More

My GPS and Trip Advisor do not have accurate directions to this National Park, but after some false turns we made our way there. The Visitors Center was closed for renovations so we read the signs and then started on the walking trails. It is...More

A very laid back and well thought out walking trail. The hike starts at a parking lot with a visitors center that was sadly closed. Informational panels are placed along the trail, giving us an idea of the civil war activity. Just a note the...More

We had a great fall afternoon to enjoy the trails and to learn a little about the battle. Trails are well maintained and easy to follow. Steep but easily done on rather side of the bridge. Would be here a lot more often if we...More

A good effort is being made to preserve this battlefield while keeping it accessible as open land for local residents. Trail maps and markers could be somewhat clearer, but if you have some background on what took place, you'll find the terrain interesting - if...More

I am not sure there are hours really. It is open pasture and trails for 5 miles. I would assume like most parks or trails they are closed at dusk.
