If you can call a cemetery a great attraction this is it. Lots of well known confederates buried here. George S. Patton's grandfather, who was a confederate colonel, was mortally wounded at the battle of third Winchester. He is buried in this cemetery along with many other notable confederates.

My only issue with this place is finding the entrance. We opted to park and walk around. We started by going by the tomb of Major General Daniel Morgan a Revolutionary War hero. Then it was over to the Civil War section. It was divided by state and each had its own monument to commemorate those that were lost. It... More

Informative and the regimented lines of headstones adds to the sacrifices these people made and their families. Two future presidents fought in the battle at Winchester on the Union side.

We have been touring historical sites so we swung through this cemetery to pay homage to the men that fought in the civil war. The cemetery seemed well tended....and was actually pretty well shaded on a hot day!

A great place to learn history. More for adults and great learning for children if they come and learning to pass on to other generations.

I have a passion for visiting Cemeteries in different areas. I love to pay respect to people I don't know that may not have anyone that would visit them. I like to sit and think of what their life might have been like back in the 1800's. Still being able to read all those stones and wondering why others are... More

We were in town on vacation and didn't have any problems finding the cemetery with the help of our gps. The cemetery is near Old Town and is very old. It is located inside of Mt Hebron Cemetery and there are many old stones to look at. The Stonewall Confederate Cemetery had a lot of interesting information to read on... More
