Tangier Island is a nice day trip to see a very different way of living. We had a pleasant trip back and forth to the island, an excellent seafood lunch, an enjoyable tour around the island and an informative visit to the small museum. All-in-all,...More

Our cruise to Tangier Island aboard the Steven Thomas was comfortable with excellent weather included. The cruise staff was very accomodating. Our one caveat...the scallop dinner at Lorraine’s restaurant on the island was horrible. The supposed mollusks were not like any scallops I’ve eaten in...More

This island is shrinking every year. There are a small number of residents. Those we talked to said they would rather live there than any place else.

The ride over and back is lovely. The captain does some narration about what you are seeing. There are snacks and drinks available for purchase on the boat ride and you can bring your own food on board. You can even leave your cooler on...More

We visited Tangier Island while visiting Virginia's Eastern shore. Accessible only by ferry, we took a small local out of Onancock, Va.; an hour or so to the island. Tangier is very unique small island in the middle of Chesapeake Bay. Not a whole lot...More

I did a day trip to this island not knowing what to expect. First off, this island is NOT wheelchair accessible. This includes the one ferry which is your transportation to the island. The ferry from Maryland only goes to the island once per day....More

I took the 90 minute boat ride to the island through Tangier Island cruises. Online special for a one day ticket was $28 and taxes. The boat's motor was very loud - bring earplugs or sit up front or up top to escape the noise....More

I believe you're talking about Hilda Crockett's Chesapeake House. Not sure about reservations. We chose Lorraine's instead and were very happy with our choice. A couple of people on our boat went to Chesapeake House and... More

I'm a kayaker and asked the same thing. I learned that they will be renting kayaks in 2018 - same place where you rent the golf carts and bikes. There are miles of great canals, and of course all the water around the crab... More
