Shenandoah Caverns has been thrilling visitors since 1922. It is the only Virginia cavern with elevator service, making it one of the easiest caverns to tour. It's also the closest major cavern to I-81 (Exit 269). Our famous bacon formations are so unusual they were featured in National Geographic. Personally guided tours through our 17 soaring rooms take approximately one hour. Also see our other attractions: Main Street of Yesteryear, American Celebration on Parade (open seasonally), and the Yellow Barn. Open all year. Located 2 minutes from I-81, Exit 269, five miles north of New Market, VA in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Let the exploration begin!

Please keep in mind that while Shenandoah Caverns does have an elevator, it is not considered handicap accessible. The pathway is crushed gravel with slight inclines throughout the tour, so assistance is required to navigate the tour via wheelchair. There is also one small portion that is not accessible by wheelchair at all. If you are walking the tour, you must be able to stand for one hour and walk one mile. If you have any questions about accessibility, please give us a call.

I really enjoyed Shenandoah caverns. We originally drove up to see Luray caverns but found a Groupon for Shenandoah caverns. So glad we went. It's a smaller version on Luray but definitely worth the visit. Patricia and Tracy had great customer service! Would recommend this as a short visit. Only took us an hour for the tour.

Driven by dozens of times and finally stopped in. Not all the glamor of Luray but still beautiful caverns. First cavern visit for one teen in our party and Sarah our guide answered all his questions making it a great time for us all. Wear sturdy shoes as some spots are slick from moisture.

We got a Groupon and used it on a no school day. It was a long drive from Richmond, va (+2hrs) but my children really, really enjoyed it. The attractions upstairs and the gift shop held their attention (they are 10, 9 and 8) for the thirty minute wait, and then we were greeted by our guide and taken to... More

Visited Shenandoah caverns with my family in 2016. One of the most beautiful underground caves i have ever seen. Shenandoah Caverns has been thrilling tourist place for over 90 years. This is the only cavern with elevator service and the closest major Caverns to I 81( Exit 269). Explore a world of breathtaking natural wonders, extraordinary crystalline formations waiting to... Decided to tour Shenandoah Caverns with two other couples. I'm glad we did. The caverns were beautiful. Our tour guide, Patty, was great. The tour is a one hour tour, but ours lasted for two hours. Patty took time to explain everything to us, took pictures, and just felt like one of the family. Be sure to ask for her... More

I did not know what to expect. Prepared to be wowed. Everything was amazing. Most of All, Patty was the tour guide who made the experience special. It is not as big as other caverns, but it is definitely different. To those in wheelchairs, you can see this attraction as it is wheelchair accessible, but the floor is stony so... More
