Busmans holiday as we work on the trains at home, but enjoyed visiting this museum. Huge steam engines also a great model railway layout with Thomas and Frozen for the kids. Also some awesome old cars and aviation stuff. Well worth a visit.

It is a cool place. From cars to trains to rockets in the yard. It is a great museum. And it is never crowded, so you can see everything at your leisure.

Fascinating -- but a little on the dusty/dirty side, too. Children can be themselves, but don't put them in Sunday best. Adults can read all the material or just take it all in.

Visits to Roanoke are not complete without a visit to the VA Museum of Transportation. There are model trains, antique cars, aviation exhibit and of course the wonderful trains. Allow about 2 hours for a visit.
