I'm in chocolate heaven

Great selection of chocolate, but no so much you can't decide. Make sure you take the sample of the day.

We stopped and got some chocolate from the shop, then went next door to the cafe. The cakes and desserts are beautiful and also delicious.. shame to poil them by eating them...almost! Coffee was also good. The chocolates next door were expensive I felt.

Thank you very much for your very kind comments. Some of our confections may appear to be expensive and that's because we make everything by hand, people rather than machines, which is considerably more expensive. We also use the best ingredients we can find, never use cheap substitutes, palm oil, additives or preservatives. I hope to see you back again... More

Discovered this on our first day in Keri Keri and went back for more. Croissants were the best I have tasted and the variety of chocolate based patisseries was more than satisfying. I would highly recommend for coffee break and light lunch.

So many delicious things to try and taste here. They do a great coffee here. Great atmosphere and the staff are really friendly. (This is strange but I loved their bathroom set up haha).

We used to live in Kerikeri 15years ago and while back holidaying in the area just had to pop into Makana to pick up some beautiful chocolate and our favourite macadamia caramel corn. On arrival we were excited to see they have opened a fabulous cafe next door. The coffee was delicious as were the sweet treats on offer. The... More

makana means 'special gift' in hawaiian and the chocolate factory wasn't somewhere we would've gone if it hadn't been suggested by my friend: "the pinot noir truffles!!!!" as it turned out, the factory was literally next door to where we stayed. it was wet and a little cooler to my husband was wearing his irish rugby jersey. we hadn't been... We popped into the chocolate factory first and, being a Sunday, there was one person making some chocolates. We were greeted with an offer of a sample of Macadamia toffee crunch and chocolate dipped ginger. The crunch was so good we had to buy some to take home. We then went next door to the cafe (which is new since... More

Situated right next to the Makana Confections is the Makana Coffee House and these people really have it all right! The coffee is wonderful and the service is impeccable. No matter what size or kind of coffee you want, you pay a flat $4.00 - so uncomplicated! The Ice-cream is made on site and has to be amongst the best... More
