We visited 8 April. We lived local 10 years ago, what can I say, it is an absolute waste of space compared to what it was like 10 years ago, people would come from miles around to visit one of the best markets in the area. Extremely disappointed, I suspect council have put rates up so high that traders can... More

Went with my daughter to get some presents and some table decorations, we got what we needed, but it has changed a lot over a couple of years, not as many stalls out now and not many men's stalls to look at, which is a shame.

If your coming to Romford especially for the market.... your way too late. This is now just a carpark full of tat and plastic rubbish you could get from any Sunday market or boot sale. Expensive parking if your lucky. I have purchased several things from this market only to find that they fall apart or are just not fit... More

I have been going to Romford Market at least once a week for the past 20+ years, mostly to buy fresh fruit and vegetables. Sadly the number of stalls has greatly reduced in recent years, but the ones that remain offer good quality produce - fresh fish, meat, eggs, fruit, vegetables, nuts/dried fruit, tea, flowers/plants, jewellery, household items, toiletries, perfumes,... We came on a week day before Christmas. Our friends who are local, were under the impression that the Christmas Markets were being held here as well. But upon arrival, we saw only the normal venders, selling things we've seen in the past, jumpers, and clothing, and such. Nothing special, nor Christmasy. Sadly disappointed.

This charming market has evolved over the years ever since it opened in 1247. Yes, the signing of the Magna Carta was still big news when the Romford Market opened. Then it was a sheep market and no one else could sell sheep within a day's sheep drive of Romford. (That's 6 2/3 miles, maybe more if you had fleet-footed... More
