Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

When approaching the charming village of Edam, you can see the characteristic bell tower, the "Speeltoren", attached to what is left of the partly demolished "Kleine Kerk", (Small Church). This bell tower was built in the 16th century. Characteristic are the bells hung at the outside of the tower. These specific bells were mounted a century ago.

We were very lucky with the weather. The slender late Gothic tower carries a carillon from 1561 looks very beautiful for the picture with the blue sky on the background.

Loved the architecture! We went with a guide so we able to get a little more of the background information of the city. Charming town and friendly locals. Of course you can't miss the cheese! Loved the great church and tower. Don't miss it.

One of the key sites in this charming town; this seems like some part of the building are missing, it is a public building worth to pop by while visiting Edam.
The town is easy to visit walking from the train stations, gather a map from the city hall and you can walk around on your own the main sites.

This is a lovely old church tower that is striking in its design. The bells are also beautiful to hear.

The highest building in the town is the church tower, whose bells ring every 15 minutes. I could not go inside, as it was closed.

We came on the bus from Amsterdam central station via Zaanse Schans (windmills)and Volendam (day ticket 18,5 euros amazing value). Edam is a lovely little town, some touristy bits but not as much as we expected a quiet peaceful spot.

The former bell tower of the old church is an icon of Edam . One cannot miss it as it is probably the highest building in town !

While walking from the bus stop through Edam One can't miss this tall, slender bell tower. It is all that remains of the 13th century church. The tower itself us from the 15th century. The original name was Church of our Dear Lady. Unfortunately, the nave was taken down in the late 1800's. The bell tower is quite unique in that the bells are on the outside, they play on the quarter hour. The tower itself is a nice backdrop to the old town. We couldn't get inside and we were unable to see inside.
